While I do not homeschool, I?m always on the lookout for great home activities that minimize computer, games and TV time, and to share with all my homeschooling friends. ?I was there excited to get a game and a craft activity to share with my children from Wowopolis, a company that makes games, arts, and crafts for families to share together.
Sound It Card Game
This is a really neat little game, but it?s ?a shame that my children do not have the capability to play it. ?This card game has a picture and a phrase on each card. ?You can use the picture and make the sound, having players guess what the object is (i.e, a helicopter), or you can read the phrase aloud (?the sound of something in the jungle?) and the first player to guess it scores. ?A bit tricky for my children ? although the picture side might be doable in a few years. ?Amelia didn?t really get some of the images, and I don?t think she had a hard time guessing some sounds I made. I?d love to see ?a preschool version of this ? with, say, farm animals, bells, etc. ? so that Amelia could really grasp and play. I think this would be great fun for a family with kids who can grasp this level of play. ?This retails for $9.99 and is available at the Wowopolis website.
Colorgami: Red Carpet Fashion Series
I loved this craft! ?It harkened back to my childhood when we played with paper dolls. ?Each kit comes with paper foldout dolls and accessories, 4 markers, and instructions for each. ?For ?Red Carpet,? the dolls were models ? 3 women, 1 man ? and they came with photographers, who acted as stands for the dolls. ?Hard to explain but see the photo:
Fun! ?Oh, just so you know, my child care provider did that red and gold doll, fashion is her thang. ?The kids had a good time with this one, and I love setting it up. ?(My kids sometimes have a really short attention span, and Zoe is in a ?coloring faces? phase ? but the blue dress is haute couture, don?t you think?) ?Loved this one, and I thought this would be an excellent activity for a birthday party. ?This craft also comes in ?Space Adventure? and ?Alphabet Pop-Ups.? ?This retails for $9.99 and is also vailable at?the Wowopolis website.
Wowopolis also makes memory games and board games. ?If you?re looking to try something different and cost effective to occupy the kiddos, check them out.
I received these Wowopolis products to facilitate this review. ?All opinions are my own.
